Some great images of the Willamette taken at the Willamette Riverkeeper’s past Paddle Oregon events are located at http://willamette-riverkeeper.org/paddleOR/PhotosAll.htm. Take a look through pictures from 2002 through 2007. There is also an excellent video (http://willamette-riverkeeper.org/paddleOR/movies.html) that talks about the Willamette River.

On Sunday, July 6, the Oregonian devoted its entire editorial page to the future of Ross Island, inviting Portlanders to join in the discussion through its blog:
http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2008/07/the_hole_at_portlands_heart.html

It also produced a video to go along with its editorial, which calls for Mayor-elect Sam Adams to craft a new vision for Ross Island soon after taking office.

Unfortunately, Oregon Active, the organizers, indicate that this event posed some permitting and organizational issues that proved harder to deal with than originally thought. They're looking forward to getting an earlier start next year so they can be part of Riverfest 2009.
